One in 166?!

There is so much wildlife about!  The variety of insects is just amazing.

We've seen several different kinds of praying mantis, including the tiny one Vaughan caught recently.  One looks very much like a super-slender stick insect.  (Here's one from our last visit).

This mottled grey fellow visited last night.  He was new (to us) and seemed quite happy walking around the house, posing nicely for photos - as long as I took them quickly!

I've consulted my insect book.  There are around 166 different praying mantis that live in Australia!

You can view a short movie of this fine fellow, here!
