We'd decided to have another look around the base of the bluff for the caves we'd heard about. As the town dump is along the way, we took a bag of rubbish with us.
Nick had just turned down the dump access road when Vaughan called out that he'd spotted a goanna. We all bailed out and Nick directed us into position, so we circled the lizard.
It was a new approach and enabled Vaughan to get close enough to hold the goanna's tail - before it whipped out of the hold and bolted across the road, with our young master in hot pursuit!
