Road rocks ...

It rained overnight but the sun was out this morning, so we went fossicking. It's a good time to go. The rain washes a lot of dirt from the rocks and it's easier to see "colour" in the strong sunlight.

Nick's had more success this past week walking along one of the local roads (rather than looking in the public-use fossicking area), so Vaughan and I strolled along with him.

Overburden from local mines had been used as road base, hence there being good colour and uncracked nuts in the road!

I found some small pieces and Nick filled the bucket with larger rocks, as well as some nuts to crack at home.  Vaughan was disappointed he didn't find anything but he was actually chasing grasshoppers a lot of the time!
