Light-box?!

While Nick and I were out the other day, we spotted two hard cases at an op-shop.  (They were bright orange, so hard to miss)!

We weren't sure what they were but thought one might be suitable to house our dual-fuel lantern.  As it is our plan to buy a second lantern, we were thinking of buying both to keep as a matched pair.  Of course, we didn't have the lantern with us so Nick checked it's dimensions online.  We borrowed a tape measure and compared measurements.  Sadly it seemed our idea wasn't workable.  Drat!

Nick was working with our lantern yesterday and thought there was a chance it could fit into the case, so we took it to the store and tried again.  Drat, again!  However, a few minutes later the assistant offered us a different case to try and we bought it instead. 

Nick made some minor adjustments to the case today and used leftover packing foam to offer extra padding to our dual-fuel lantern.  It has more protection than previously, which is great!
