Woomera to Andamooka ...

Woomera was an overnight stop for us, staying at the only caravan park in town.  The facilities were old but clean and we were quite happy there.

Note:  the park is now permanently closed, as of 30 October 2024.

We did some more geocache exploring after checking out.  The arboretum was a favourite place.  Mr Dog was so excited to encounter proper green grass! He scooched himself along it and rolled a bit, like he does after a really tasty treat!

From Woomera, we called into Roxby Downs (79km) to top up on groceries.  They had such great variety and range.

Roxby Downs is a town, officially opened in 1988 and purpose built to support the Olympic Dam Mine Site. The mine is owned by BHP and produces four products: copper, uranium, gold and silver.

We had a picnic just out of town, before pressing on to Andamooka - 32km.

I saw several clumps of Sturt's Desert Peas as we drove from Woomera to Roxby Downs and then Andamooka (100km stretch of road). None were conveniently located for stopping - sadly!

Our Andamooka site was within the community camp ground.  We were able to hook up to one of the nine powered sites and paid for two night's via direct deposit.

I cheffed outside, admiring the pretty sky as the sun set, while Nick played his guitar - it was a very pleasant evening.
