By gum, it was gorgeous scenery!

Manna Hill was a donation camp.  We left $5.00 because that was all the cash we had.  We would have left more, given how clean the facilities were.

When chatting with the publican on arrival, she advised the local community did all maintenance for the rest area - so we dropped cash in their donation tube, not the adjacent "official" one.

We'd planned to stop at Manna Hill and assumed we'd cross the South Australian quarantine station before arrival, where many fresh food items would have been binned.  As it happened the station was beyond the town, en route to Port Augusta.

About two hours drive from Manna Hill was Orroroo, where we detoured slightly to see a 500-year-old gum tree.  Such a magic sight!

Wilmington was our next stop - half an hour further along.  We really enjoyed seeing so many shingleback lizards basking beside the road.  Gorgeous!

There was a general store with fuel, just before reaching Wilmington.

It was the most amazingly well-stocked place, that just went on and on.  Gee whiz they had some stuff! Nick stayed outside with Bandit while I bought a few things and then he went in to the huge hardware section.  A hose clamp was one of his purchases, bought to prevent one of the frame poles from sliding down when set up.

There was fabulous scenery driving through the Flinders Ranges.  Sort of like oversized telly tubby country with huge hills on the side of the road and wonderful gum trees! I think we'll need to do a separate Flinders Ranges trip at some other stage.  Something else for our wishlist!
