We stayed in Port Augusta over night, paying a little extra for an ensuite site. That splurge proved a great decision as there was heavy rain soon after arrival and we were able to use our bathroom cabin as extra drying room (for freshly washed items that couldn't go in the drier).
As we'd driven into town, we stopped at a camping store and acquired a smaller format table - specifically to use inside the camper. Given the rain, the table had it's first use soon after purchase and worked well.
I did another grocery shop after checking out. We wanted to be well stocked, while also being mindful of limited fridge and freezer space. It was a finely balanced operation!
Matthew Flinders Red Cliffs lookout was on the way out of town - and such a gorgeous spot. I expect we'd walk there every day if we were locals. Just stunning!
Bandit was allowed on leash at the lookout but not elsewhere in the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens, so we only saw some of that area from the car windows.
We left the Gardens and started heading for Woomera (180km away) - enjoying views of the huge, open sky as we drove along.
Although we had considered staying at the Pimba Road-house, we decided to stay overnight at the only caravan park in nearby Woomera.
Woomera was such an interesting place.
We really felt like we were on a deserted 1960s filmset!
