Waking up in White Cliffs ...

After spending our first five days travelling (doing 300ish kilometres each day), it was quite pleasant to take a few days break and mooch about more casually.

White Cliffs had been on my wishlist for a long time - as it had been talked about throughout my childhood.  The area was new to both of us and we enjoyed exploring.

There were lots of little birds. A pair of willy wagtails had their nest in a peppercorn tree behind the camper trailer.  Sparrows hopped through our site and there were finches also.

We had an early morning walk through the town and encountered two groups of wandering guinea fowl.  (Or the same group, twice)!

A local resident came out to keep tabs on her dogs with Bandit.

We chatted while they played together and it was funny to realise she used to live on the NSW Central Coast, in a familiar suburb.

Mr Dog was allowed to visit the (inactive) solar station - and we spent some time looking at the displays. There are a few facts about the heritage site, here.

Later in the day, we did a heritage drive through various areas of the small township.

We spotted wild budgies and many flowers as we drove.

One of my ID guides mentioned the fragrance of some flowers, so I'll need to check those again - cos I didn't expect they'd have any scent at all!
