On arrival at Coward Springs, we were surprised by the number of other campers, given how few we'd seen on the road. At some stage I chatted to a lady who was on a return trip, cos she could only stay one night on her previous visit!
I was up early for a pre-7am dip in the Coward Springs Spa - where the water wasn't hot but it wasn't cold either.
My quick dip became an hour-long wallow with very wrinkled fingers from the extended soak!
I stayed in so long, that Nick came looking for me cos we still needed to pack the camper before the usual 10:00am check-out.
The campground "was once a station on the old Ghan railway line. The site was constructed in 1888 and abandoned before the line was closed in 1980."
We had time for a look around the museum before finishing our pack-up and heading for Coober Pedy, via William Creek.
The William Creek Road was 166km of dirt and we saw two cars at the start, one in about the middle and one broken down near the end. As we were assisting the broken-down vehicle, another car passed the two of us (but didn't stop).
We arrived in Coober Pedy around 3:00pm and made our way to our flash underground accommodation, where Mr Dog was welcome.
It was very pleasant to mooch about, catching up on washing and other missions ...
