Wow!

Vaughan was on his way for morning cuddles with Nissa, when he spotted this guy/gal on the mesh door.

"Wow" seemed an appropriate response to such a huge stick insect!  We took some pics and some DVD footage also. 


When you look at the pic at left you can see that the stick insect had small (in relation to the size of it's body),fanned wings. They were hidden away most of the time and we were certainly surprised that he/she had them - very interesting!

Although Vaughan very much enjoyed his stick insect encounter, his mood deteriorated considerably afterward and all tempers were somewhat frayed. Our departure an hour or so later was quite subdued, though fortunately good humour was restored en route to Thargomindah via the Black Gate road.
