Shingleback!!!

Team effort!
We had seen many bearded (and other dragons) since coming away, a few goannas and lots of geckoes around Louie's shack - but no shinglebacks.

It wasn't long after leaving the grieving goanna that Nissa's "shingleback!" cry was made loudly from the back seat - and Nick immediately slowed down to turn back.

We all bounded out and across the road, hugely excited by the spotting! In truth, the poor lizard was probably a bit overawed by all the attention!

He/she coped well with all the photographs though as we each had a hold, before Vaughan returned him/her to the grass at the side of the road.
Vaughan's story ...
Although I have kept a daily journal at different times of my life, these days I record only our camping trip adventures or particularly special days.

Before heading off for our Yowah Christmas I covered an exercise book for Vaughan, so he could have a journal of his own.

He draws a picture (usually unassisted), then dictates a short story for one of us to write on his behalf.

Nissa very neatly recorded this one for him.
