Travel in style!

I'd started preparing for our trip, thinking we'd be taking the Spacevan but revised my packing list when Plan A failed.

We planned to stay in motels etc along the way and would eat out a lot more than usual, though still decided to take breakfast provisions.

This basket was originally a lovely wedding gift, packed with deli goodies and an accommodation voucher.  It's done various service since then - as was used as a goodies basket on some cabin stays.  It was showing signs of wear and I originally thought to make a liner but decided it was easier to use this pretty, vintage tea towel.

It took some fiddling to find containers that packed nicely but they made life easier en route.  I had my usual cereal in one, collagen powder in a second and a mix of teas in a third.  Nick had coffee bags in one - and sugar replacement sachets.

Most accommodation does have complimentary tea and coffee but we prefer to use ours.  We took our mug/bowl bags (with dessert spoons) and my $2.00 teapot with custom tea cosy, along with it's new handle holder.

I'd made a road-trip sponge for fun and it was kept in another container along with some kitchen detergent.  A plug may have been a good addition as there were a couple of places that didn't have one.  Tea-towels were usually provided but we had a couple from home for the times we needed one.

We packed our beverage and picnic cases, along with a few BBQ implements, paper towel and oil.  Some basic ingredients were bought along the way and stashed in the picnic bag.  We also took a new dual fuel stove, to boil a kettle for tea and coffee at roadside stops.

Although we originally thought we'd take the red car away, our intended route and recent rain meant Elmer was the better choice - which gave us more room and the benefit of his fridge slide and storage drawers.  We took one Engel with us and Nick organised it wonderfully with small basket and different plastic containers.  I wish I'd thought to take a photo!

As you can see we also took some alcohol - and acquired other small bottles along the way, so had a custom mini bar for most stays.  The black case did good work holding some of the supply.  We don't always indulge but I like how everything looks when set up!
