Out of the box!

At time of purchase the Spacevan had a basic, top-opening metal box on the drawbar.  It held the jockey wheel, chocks and extension cords etc during our first trip.  You can see it open in some of these pics.

Nick built several wooden storage boxes for our original camp-ing trailer and the D9 camp-er trailer came with huge storage box.  Given we intended to travel with our Engels, we needed to choose where they'd be located.  Having them on slides in the D9 box had been very handy and we thought something like that would work well.  We're in a better financial position these days, so decided to have a custom box made for our requirements.

We'd often seen flash boxes on display to and from my regular chiropractic appointments and made a snap decision to call in on the way home from one of those check-ups.  At that stage, we were looking at a box to house both Engels.

The salesperson was very thorough and asked a lot of questions.  There were weight and length issues with our first-choice plan and so an alternative was discussed.  We paid a deposit and were advised the work would commence after we signed-off on a full written quote, which would include proper drawings and specifications.

It was estimated the box would be ready in early December.  There were delays in manufacture (as we had expected) and it wasn't till early January that we received advice of it being ready for pick-up.  We'd already planned a quick trip away (not in the Spacevan), so collected our brand-new box a week or so later.  We hired a trailer to bring it home on - and were very impressed with the quality of workmanship.
